Thats not niche so much as made up. If you wnt to take photos you take your photography device. I understand the same could have been said about digital cameras and phones twenty years ago but that was merging techs, this is sparating them.
The watch will have a significantly worse camera so it would not make sense to take it specifically for photos.
If you don’t want to carry your phone, I don’t think you would want to carry a often heavier photography device. Besides that most people don’t have a specific photography device.
This is my point, if you want to take a picture bring your photography device. Be it your phone or camera.
If you want to take a picture and decide to leave one or both of your photography devices at home - you dont want to take a picture.
A watch with a camera is going to remain inferior because it is a smaller form factor fulfilling a very similar role. Anything that could be done to make the watch camera better could be better utilised in a phone. Making the case that if you wanted to take a picture, you would bring the more capable device.
ah I see what you mean now. Yea I agree mostly, but sometimes I don’t go out with my phone for a reason (if I’m running or just don’t want to think about my phone) and sometimes I then see something I want to photograph. As I said, very niche, but might be slightly useful for some people.
Very niche use case, but maybe if you don’t want to carry your phone with you and still want to make photos?
Don’t think many people will want to do this, so it’s still stupid, but maybe?

Imagine if we had ever discovered a device for doing that. 📷
I mean, it’s a lot more practical to wear a watch then carrying a camera everywhere. Not saying the watch is a good idea, it really isn’t, haha.
And brain implants trump every other device. Would you?
Is that meant to be a fair comparison?
