Our glorious leader is away on vacations, so it falls on me to post this weekly thread. Just going to copy what I posted at the nintendo community, hope you don’t mind.
- Didn’t get to play New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, but plan to at least clear one level every day, starting from this weekend.
- Completed second case in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, started a third one. Loving the game.
- Dragon Quest XI is probably the only one I spent most time playing. Going to keep playing it.
- Beat Nergigante, with some help in Monster Hunter: World. Now have to look for other Elder Dragons, but since I have Rathian armour which has -10 Dragon damage resistance, going to grind some better armour. Thinking about High Metal or Ingot. I was thinking about pausing the game for a while to focus on DQ XI, but then I thought I would have to “git gut” in MH again, so going to stick with it. Couple of sessions every week at least to keep the skills from deteriorating very much.
What about you guys? What are you currently playing? And what do you want to start next?
Baldur’s Gate 3 at 11am tomorrow on the dot. Gonna be a bard and talk my way to winning.
Nice!
I never play bard. Never, ever. But it would be interesting to try it sometime, maybe on my second play through (though for that I would first have to get the game and have first play through)
I’ve never played bard either but Edgin from the new DnD movie inspired me and from what I gather from what I’ve heard any class can beat the game so why not roleplay someone fun?
Ah, I haven’t watched the movie yet, and I agree, it does sound fun, though I am not sure I’ll not start missing bashing people’s head in after few hours. 😀
At home I’m still on ff16. Almost at the end and enjoying it still At the airport I’m playing RDR. I played 2 first at the beginning of the year completely not know the timeline it was set. So I’m a lot more invested in 1 now because I played 2 first.
2 huge games. Interesting. I haven’t played RDR 2 yet, but RDR is a great game, not sure how well it holds up now though, I played it back on PS3.
How are you liking FF16? Fans of FF series in general kind of had mixed feelings about it.
I would call myself a fan despite haven’t played a lot of them. I think it’s good. It has a strong story despite some pacing and storytelling issues. For me it’s the best one since X. I haven’t played XIV I’m not an mmo guy. And I give it an edge over VII solely for being an original story.
Rdr2 is incredible. I hear those who liked 1 might not get use to 2 in the beginning cos the gameplay is so different. But man that story is gripping.
Interesting. Thanks for the feedback!
Some Last of Us Factions as it’s the first time I’m enjoying an online game except GT7.
Finished Mortal Kombat XL and might start Battlefield 1 to see what it’s like.
Not a big fan of online games, but I tried Factions for a bit with friends, it’s a fun game. We were only 4 people though, would have been fun with 6-8.
What do you think about the upcoming MK 1?
Factions is indeed good but I’m mainly playing it for the trophies as I really need an engaging story to enjoy a game. Still I can understand why it still has a lot of success.
No idea about MK1, as I’m not into combat games usually.
I hate when games have online trophies, specially the ones I want to platinum. Good luck!
Me too usually, but this time it was an opportunity to play a good game I’d never played otherwise 😇
Yeah, some game deserves an exception. This is one of those. Though I think there was a difficulty trophy too, so I just gave up on the Platinum and enjoyed my single play through.
I have a habit of starting too many games at once, so right now I’m in the middle of Stray, finally got around to starting Alan Wake, and then Baldurs Gate 3 came out on PC so… I’ve been playing a lot of BG3 lol
Well, as long as are having fun, and finish the ones you enjoy, it’s all good.
Stray is really fun, had fun getting the Platinum, except for that one running trophy.
And well, with Baldur’s Gate, it’s expected that you stopped playing other games. Have fun!
Just started Witcher 3. It starts a bit slow but I guess that’s how such games go. Also playing Planet of Lana alongside.
Witcher 3 is a great game. Even though I think it’s a bit over-hyped, it’s still a really great game.
Don’t think I have seen Planet of Lana before, looks a bit like Limbo or inside, but in tropical kind of setting. How are you liking it?
Edit: Just read the wikipedia page for Planet of Lana, so it’s PC and Xbox only, and it’s inspired by inside and Studio Ghibli. Going to add it to my Xbox wishlist.
Can’t comment on Witcher 3 yet. I’m about to kill the first Griffin, everything seems so clunky and complex so far.
Regarding Planet of Lana, yes it’s very much like Limbo but with a small twist (don’t want to spoil that) in the gameplay. The puzzles are not as difficult as Limbo, more like Inside actually. I’m half way through the game, it’s good for playing on a handheld I suppose.
Yeah, it is a bit complex and clunky. But if you like RPGs, it’s a good one. There are tons of fetch quests, but there are also many good questlines.
Thanks for the feedback. Hope Planet of Lana comes to Switch then! 😀
Woke up early to play Baldur’s Gate! Played it a bit on PC early access, loved it, and waited for full release so I can play through it in multiplayer. So excited!
What are you starting as?
Started as a bard but switched over to barbarian and had so much fun I decided to go that way. It’s just too good intimidating everything and just brute strength being the answer to every problem… freaking hilarious and the funnest barbarian I’ve played in any game.
Heh. Sounds like fun.
Armored Core VI which is my first AC game despite my love of mechs.
Off to a good start but I am struggling slightly with the camera tracking.
I read it as “Armored Core VI is my first Assassin’s Creed game”, and I was like, why do you think Armored Core is like Assassin’s Creed. 😀
I like mechs, but haven’t really played any mech games, so looking forward to playing AC VI.
Hah I’ve never played any Assassins Creed games so I didn’t really think of it
Got back into Hitman, picked up where I left off a year ago and completed Colorado, which wasn’t as bad as fans made it out to be. It was just like any other level really, I actually quite liked it. Also started Sea of Stars which has been fantastic so far. Can’t even tell you the last time I played a retro RPG style game like this.
Hearing great things about Sea of Stars, the devs has raised the bar for retro-styple RPGs.
Are you playing original XI or the S version? Learning that the battle speed QoL is a S exclusive I can’t imagine playing the original, but with such a good base game ultimately it’s doesn’t affect the experience that much.
I also just plat’d Marvel’s Avengers, which started fine as I enjoyed its single-player campaigns, but the post-game grinds got really monotonous after a while. Had they just focused on making a tight single-player game like GotG I think it would have sold better and not get delisted.
Currently playing Marvel’s GotG (great game), Alan Wake (played on PC, replaying the Remastered on PS5), and Like a Dragon Ishin (more grindy than regular Yakuza games so not as fun for me).
The S version. Battle speed is set to fast. And yeah, the game is great.
I played Marvel’s Avengers a little while ago, and while the start was great, the game became a grind and boring as the game progressed. Finished the story but had no mood to go for Platinum. The heroes were fun to play, and I agree, this could’ve been a great game if they had went with SP design, instead of going with Live Service one.
GotG and Alan Wake are on my wishlist, as for Yakuza, I played first 5 a long time ago, now wanted to replay the series from 0, but I am not sure I can play so many. So, wondering if I should just skip 1-5 and just watch the story to recall the details and jump straight to 6. I know Ishin is kind of a spin-off, but I want to play all the games in release order.
Yakuza 0 is the pinnacle of the series, you should absolutely try it. Tbh, you can just play 0-Kiwami 1-Kiwami 2, it serves as a great trilogy, with one great game and two good remakes, while the Remastered trilogy (3-4-5) can be skipped if you already experienced them. I personally don’t like 6 that much, but you can go for it for the story.
It’s definitely difficult to go through the entire series consecutively. You can avoid burnout by breaking up your playthroughs with the spin-off. Both Judgment games are amazing and offer a fresh take on the old RGG formula.
Oh, I didn’t clarify, but I have played Yakuza 0 earlier this year (loved it, great game), just wondering if I should play 1-5 or skip them. I have limited gaming time, and hundreds of games in my backlog / wishlist. 😀
I think I would go with your suggestion, play Kiwami 1 and 2, then watch the story of 3-4-5 for a recap, and then go to 6.
Trying to get through The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles 2: Resolve. It’s so long. I swear the other AA games weren’t as long as TGAAC. These are legit like 30-40 hours each.
Playing the new season of Destiny 2. It’s been a blast. They really did a great job with this season.
Also going to finish a coop run of Resident Evil 5. I am not enjoying that one. Chapter 5 was awful. I don’t know who decided to give the zombies guns, but I don’t like it. Kinda ruins the combat of the game, imo.
Hoping to start Sea of Stars after TGAAC2.
Nice set of games. I have just began the Ace Attorney series, but loving every moment of it.
I mentioned this in another thread, but I love Destiny 2’s gunplay, just can’t get into it because of how the story is now. Hope they release Destiny 3, allowing new players to join easily.
Sea of Stars is great, good luck!
I’m playing Sea of Stars. Around 6h in, loving it so far. There’s just something that clicks for me with this game.
The devs have proved themselves with this game. It’s getting rave reviews everywhere. Very glad for the dev, and for getting such a game.
Thanks
SlimeRancher! Much appreciated! What did I ever do to you? Why would you call me a slime? 😭
Oh no! I edited! Don’t be sad. Lol
