Samus Aran is back! Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2025.#MetroidPrime4 #NintendoSwitch #NintendoDirectVisit Nintendo.com for ...
I don’t think they’d have announced the weaker version of the game first. The first preview of the game would have been from the best possible version they have to show off, so this trailer is probably exactly that. I think it’s unlikely that this will be a dual-release game.
Which makes me worry for the success of the game. Having what should be a cornerstone game for the Switch being released on year 8 of the console’s life span is not a good look. I want this to be good; I’ve been wanting this game ever since I finished Metroid Prime 3 back in 2007, I just hope it’s not too late to still find success.
I’m hoping it’s gonna be like a GameBoy Color game. One cartridge. Play on Switch, regular graphics. Play on Switch 2, next-gen graphics. Everyone wins
That would be really cool.
Fun tidbit: there’s a tiny physical switch in the plug in port that tells those systems which mode the game is for. So if the cartridge presses that switch in, the Gameboy will use the Color/Advanced software, for example.
I don’t remember which way is for what specific system, but I always thought that was clever.
IIRC, GBC cartridges could physically fit inside the OG GB, but would throw an error when it required the extra power of the GBC. The GBA had the notch that determined Advance/not-Advance mode and made GBA games physically exclusive to the GBA
I wish I had my GBA to look at, since I’ve never noticed that switch in person, but I lost it some years ago. It’s probably still at my dad’s house somewhere, but I haven’t been able to find it. :(
Games and consoles are really expensive in my country and since Switch 2 will probably have 4K (at least from TTYD source code) I’m not sure that I’ll be able to buy it.
Well I guess then we will see, maybe they will do something similar to how they did for some of the zelda games in the past, where it’s on both the old and new system at the same time (as a launch title).
I was so hyped when I saw it, can’t wait to play it. I really hope that it will be for Switch (please don’t be for Switch 2).
Hopefully if it is for switch 2, they’d have a switch version as well
I bet they will do this. I remember they did this with Twilight Princess as well.
Or Breath of the Wild. It was a launch title for the Switch but also had a version for the Wii U.

I’m hoping for a cross gen situation akin to Breath of the Wild’s launch.

That’s what I was thinking of. Thank you!
It took a little googling but I found an article on it: https://www.ign.com/articles/2001/03/22/game-boy-advance-territory-lock-out-investigated

Nice find! I saw it in a video, maaaaybe a MVG video? I don’t feel like digging through channels for it. This article is great
The website is very clear that it’s a Switch game
That would be a valid point if Nintendo never delayed games or changed plans
I’d rather it be on Switch 2 just so it can run better/look better. Plus 2025, i mean… Switch 2 is coming in what, March or so?
