Also posting from a Pixel 7 running Graphene for abouta year. No issues, I use Fdroid for most apps and Aurora when I have too. Only bummer is I haven’t found a good FOSS keyboard with swipe. Really miss gboard for that and gif insertion.

I get that for some users. In my case, 90% of what’s in the catalog that I’d be interested in I already own. I know this isn’t the standards, but it’s what happens when you’re an avid Steam Gamer with a Humble Sub and a collecting problem.

I joined Game pass to have Xbox live to play with my console buddies and for day one exclusive access. At this point, I’ve moved most of them on to PC and Xbox has done nada with my 5 or so years of subscription.

You know, that’s fair. They haven’t shit on us… yet. 😁

I renewed by doing the $1 dollar deal again a year or two ago… racked up another 3 years at the time.

As a Game pass user from Day 1 I evangelized it to everyone I knew. Especially going in to this console generation.

Now though, I see no purpose to it. Microsoft has dropped the bag in a unbelievable way when it comes to dropping exclusives / first party games.

It’s not so much the Netflix of games as it is the Tubi…

It’s crazy how they fucked themselves out of revenue streams so completely. Within 6 months of canceling all our streaming services, I was able to pick up 4x16tb HDD’s for a JBOD connected to a NUC for about the same cost (likely less all said).

A lot of us that grew up sailing the seas became stable enough to afford the media we wanted and docked our ships. Now, I’m back on my favorite newsgroups like it was 2001.

There’s that quote from GabeN, I won’t repost it, but it’s true. There’s a serious service problem and the greed isn’t helping. Now I’ve got a multi terabyte NAS and backup with a streaming services and a Steam account I’ll never make through the backlog of.

All that said, when possible, I still by the stuff I like on physical, but even that is getting harder and harder anymore.

The biggest mistakes these shareholder appeasing cock puppets are making is thinking we don’t have a choice anymore. We do and they are greater than they’ve ever been.

I unfortunately don’t have MAX anymore after they dropped Westworld (and all the other crazy shit that happened around a year or so ago) so I may also have to borrow a copy from my friend the internet…

Edit: Looks like my son already put in a Requestarr for it and it’s in Sonarr. The *arr stack really has changed the game after I was out of the scene for 10 or so years.

I have a Founders account, it’s $5. Not sure what the new customer tier prices are.

But, for the classic “cup of coffee a month” it’s been worth keeping active since they moved to a paid model however many years ago. The first several years were free if you owned a shield TV.

Additionally, they still offer a 100% free tier to anybody.

Been a GeForce Now user since the Shield TV launch. It’s a great thing to have when I don’t want to drag a laptop or console around with me while traveling. $5 a month is absolutely worth it, especially considering it uses my existing libraries.
