Yeah I love the fact that in this game, the message was just for the sake of it, while nowadays it would be in order to keep the person playing it addicted to whatever skinner box is integrated into the gameplay loop.
This is just terrible. I love Deus Ex and was hoping to see a new game in the next 5 years.
If I may add a different suggestion: have you considered hacking one of the old consoles that you have/can buy used to enable retro gaming? A used Wii or Wii U for instance have great wireless controllers available, especially used Wiis without the games and accessories are dirt cheap. The process is very simple, just do a quick google. Basically, hack an old console, load the ROMs you have, get an appropriate wireless controller (8bitdo makes A LOT of compatible wireless gamepads), and you’re good to go.
Here is an example, for the Wii U, though the Wii is probably even easier (but SD)

You could also get the games using the virtual console offerings for the Switch if you don’t want to mess with ROMs. I know the switch has that adapter thing that holds the nunchucks in a ‘classic controller’ gamepad form. Even very old consoles sometimes have great retro gaming or homebrew options, the classic Xbox to name one example.
All in all I think this would be the fastest and maybe even cheapest option.
Also, kudos for nurturing the love of video games in your son.
This channel is pure solid gold. Love every video he releases.
Beat Saber. it was the Christmas time 2020, so during the pandemich, and I was living alone and had a lot of free time. Got myself a PSVR set. I maybe bough a game full price just once before. And Beat Saber cost me like 40 dollars. But it was so worth it. Played all of it, and even bought some DLC. An amazing game.
I am so happy for this guy. He must be so stoked!
I was just wondering - was there not a less ridiculous way available to increase revenue?
The first reviews are very promising! :)
Sad that there isn’t a physical version
Such a cool site! Very nostalgic vibes
Last of Us part II. I have to say that I liked part I more - the second part’s artificiall padding is way too obvious. But I love the atmosphere.
Waking Mars! An incredible short sci fi game with a nice story
I am happily gaming with my refurbished PS4 I got for about 130 usd 2 years ago. I find the graphics still pretty decent and the gaming experience is top notch.
That is so cool! Didn’t know this was possible. Is there any lag?
I was in college at the time and I regret not buying it. It was not that popular in my neck of the woods
I don’t think there is a cutoff age, but I have noticed that non-gamers see gaming more like watching TV, i. e. a passive, somewhat trivial form of entertainment. The reason is because people tend to first think of Tetris and not Disco Elysium or Persona, or VR games. They just don’t know that it is an intellectually actibe and stimulating hobby. But I cannot fault them for that. Imagine telling someone your hobby is watching TV. I did tell my SO that I like gaming, but I also like other things that they enjoy too. If she ever asks me about it though, I am happy to talk about it or show something to her.
Nintendo knocking it out of the park. It is a pity that their best games are coming at the perceived end of the generation.
This is why I love the fediverse. I would never find this article by myself.
