  • The first amendment to the Constitution of the United States protects:

    • The right to speak, specifically the right to political speech and to be critical of the administration or its officers
    • The right to practice religion (right now this is being used to override other rights and duties)
    • The right to publish, as per above
    • The right to assemble with others
    • The right to petition your representatives in office for redress of grievances.

When Justice Amy Coney Barrett was being reviewed for her bench position, she couldn’t remember the last one.

    But Pepperidge Farm remembers.

  • So today, YouTube’s pop-ups rolled down to Views will be limited to one unless you remove your adblocker at which point the pop-ups ceased. (I was intentionally rolling them down). Have: Firefox, DDG Privacy Essentials, NoScript, uBlock Origin

Techs working to give me access: I love you guys! I really appreciate what you’re doing.

Fuck the hurtful comments, and do it to fight capitalism and enshittification.

That said, when I can no longer YouTube without ads, I will no longer YouTube, which also means no engagement on video forums. Useful, interesting rants is what I have to offer.

Whether or not USA Today believes in free speech, its sponsors to not. They expect brand safe conduct.

Also USA Today’s upper management has opinions on what they would publish. You won’t see pro-anarchist op-eds in USA Today.

That said, news agencies are less good for getting news rather used in conjunction with others to confirm their veracity.

  • Two details:

FBI expands rapidly to DHS and then the entire US Police State. If you cross borders, expect ICE AND CBP to be up in your body cavities. If the local county sheriff doesn’t like you, or you’re being stalked by an officer (say, an ex) expect them also to have access.

When you think Hackers think of not only data mining interests like Palantir but also industrial spies. If you have any business interests on your phone subject to an NDA (or you’re motivated not to share because reasons) these guys will sell that information to your competitors, if they weren’t hired by them in the first place.

If you run more than a mom-and-pop then the default security of your smartphone is not enough. But a lot of sizeable companies supply their officers with unprotected phones.
