Our solution that we set up years ago was to connect a Shelly to circuits on a normal, dumb door opener. The Shelly triggers open/closed itself and since the signal comes from the opener, there’s no crypto nonsense to figure out. It always works, no matter what MyQ/Chamberlain/LiftMaster do. Bonus, it also works if you have a very old opener.
We also supplemented this with a tilt sensor so we know the state of the garage door. The door can still be cracked and not registered as opened, but that’s a compromise we’re okay with since we never leave it intentionally cracked.

Yeah you’d need an L7 application layer filtering firewall to catch DoH since it would detect the SSL packet signature on port 53. Unfortunately that balloons the cost of the device past a reasonable level for a home aficionado.
A workaround for now would be to block known public servers that use DoH like Google DNS, since a lot of devices are adding features to enable DoH by default at the OS level

In FFXIV, I had a friend that funded buying a small house thanks to fishing. She was only level 50/60.

Fyi we won’t get the first wing of the XI ally raid until 7.1 (3ish months after 7.0, so September/October/November 2024) and even then it will only be one third of the total story. Totally fine if you still sub, but you might not get much value out of it until 7.3 with the second wing some time in 2025

A group of friends and I jumped into a family plan and it’s far more manageable. For 6, it’s $3/month/person or $36/year/person if the owner pays yearly.
The value we’ve all gotten out of it is outstanding. Being able to push and pull certain websites in results is amazing in today’s era of AI generated website shit. And all of my technical searches have been 1000x better on Kagi than they have been on Google in recent years. Everyone in our group says the same thing, it’s that much better than what we’ve been enduring with Google.

I use this one and never have issues. I also have jsaux’s high power wall plug which is great for general use charging and powering this dock

Shellys are amazing. We use the pucks everywhere for anything that’s not innately smart.

Some of our use cases:

• Kitchen cabinet lighting that syncs each strip with each other as well as the overhead lights. Or the cabinet lights can be turned on independently.
• Garage door opener, because MyQ sucks (it’s hooked up to a real physical garage opener button and triggers the button for us)
• Outlet power monitoring (mostly for fun)
• Can be put in light switch boxes in lieu of something like Kasa switches, but the physical switch won’t follow the light state any more. Similarly, smart wall outlets for power toggling

Bad news, good luck troubleshooting any of it if something breaks

Oh, I actually like my gsp 500 too :( it’s lasted me for years, has a nice long cable, and gives decent audio quality after I got a pci-e audio card to boost levels. I’ve always preferred a combo headset over separate headphones and mics because it’s less to juggle, but so many out there are cheap garbage. Guess I’ll have to find a new solution whenever these die on me

I will buy the game for everyone I know if they make a campaign creator like nwn1. I got so much mileage out of that game browsing the nwnvault.

My only complaint is that coming from a networking background, Ubiquity’s OS is awful and makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out. Navigating the interface to find settings makes no sense, it’s not very granular in how you can configure certain filtering settings, dual wan setups are difficult to manually change over, and good luck looking at logs to troubleshoot any traffic flow issues (hint: you can’t).

For someone who just needs a firewall and a VPN endpoint, it’s great. If you need anything more than that, get opnsense/pfsense. Pairing one of those with Ubiquity APs (which are actually pretty terrific) is a really solid setup.

See: Cisco. At least when I last used it, the web server configuration utility added a lot of garbage to your running config that made it unreadable if you swapped back to the cli.

Systems that built the GUI first aren’t too bad. Palo Alto UI is pretty decent.

I have to recommend my favorite game of the last few years - CrossCode
It has everything. Snappy combat, build diversity, varying enemies, incredible story and characters, beautiful pixel art, and unique puzzles.

The combat is fantastic. It’s very responsive and has so much diversity in each element you obtain. The gear has so much variety to augment your builds.
I love a great story in games. I adore the story in this game. Lea is a compelling main character while being one of few words (literally). Her friends she makes along the way are charming and frustrating but in a redeeming way. The universe has so much lore to discover in every facet, and the real-life MMO setting is captivating to explore. If you aren’t a fan of puzzles, you can reduce the timing of elements of those puzzles to make them easier to solve/execute. A good handful are time-based execution ones, so this feature is very helpful if you’re ever having a hard time pulling off one or two puzzles.
