Define a set of rules, and someone will figure out how to cheat it.
Mind the shavings
Define a set of rules, and someone will figure out how to cheat it.
This is it right here. Concerningly large swaths of people talk about swearing like this distinction–which is the whole discussion–doesn’t exist.
If you swear enough you can completely turn it off when you’re truly pissed and it’s terrifying.
More than 0 people being anti-mask, anti-vaccine, covid deniers, or covid minimizers.
Turns out people don’t even need a selfish reason to stab their neighbor in the back, they’ll do it just for kicks, and then stab themselves in the face for no benefit whatsoever.
Many changes are fantastic but they add more and more stuff to a game whose inventory was built around having a fifth the number of regular items in your inventory. Shulker boxes are the coolest thing in the game…until they become necessary to manage the bloat, in which case they suck, because now it’s just an inventory square that takes forever to use.
They need to double the size of the standard player inventory, at least.
Microsoft really is getting worse.
The level of sick for which this is true is below the threshold of what we normally call “getting sick”. You’re always fighting off something. That’s what’s good for you. Not the getting overwhelmed and having to stay in bed amount.
If I don’t have to fail to understand another “Docker’s not that bad | complete beginners’ tutorial” video, I’d sign up.
Although any commercial business will be dead or the new problem to avoid in 15 years.
Great article, because it applies to anyone who reads it.
They did not fail spectacularly with Fallout 4. They didn’t even fail.
I am willing to compromise at “muted success”, but no more.
Speaking of Fallout, do Fallout 1 and 2 have any proper spiritual successors? I’d love to play one!
Thank you thank you thank you for posing this question.
This is the biggest issue by far with open source stuff in general, and as a non-programmer who wants to use more and more of it, user unfriendliness hamstrings so much.
I don’t know the answers but I can tell you for a fact that if open source in general is serious about broader adoption, this needs to be occupying 50% of everybody’s open source discussion time, at least.
What I know is the standard “fuck you read my 19 pages of 1s and 0s” is the wrong answer.
Maybe good design is just really hard. I don’t know, I’ve never tried to do it. Seems like the sort of thing that might take three thousands iterations.
That’s 33 As and go fuck yourself if you can figure out the word better:
ummmmm that’s cute but Super Mario World is a tretrigintuple-A game
Mastodon and the fediverse in general are weirdly user-unfriendly, and then some fucking programmer pops in to say,
“Oh! You can fix that! All you have to do is hop over to their github page and…”
Lol
If they can make the user experience good, we might get the basis for a new internet, but they’d have to build it first.
Remake it but don’t change the genre at all. Exact same screens types, camera angles, layouts. Don’t let it become another 3D horror game. Could do a lot with those limitations.
Tangential, may solve anyway:
Yt-dlp gave me that same sign-in error instead of downloading a video. Google flagged something with an IP address, I think, because switching to another one in my vpn and refreshing the browser tab worked instantly.
Just a matter of time. You stop it categorically or you don’t stop it.
Sync is the shit.
That’s pretty strong and I’ve never seen or heard anything like it before. If it’s true I’m betting the rest of Lemmy would like some details, too.
Thank you for this.
