I keep trying other distros, and then coming back to Debian unstable XFCE. Linux Mint Debian Edition is ok. At work I did lots of Enterprise Redhat, but I’m glad I don’t have to use it after I retired.
I am kind, and try to do no harm. I bicycle daily, and tinker on all kinds of projects. INFP

I believe that Firefox has a mechanism where millions of users all have the same fingerprint, which makes the whole concept of browser fingerprinting useless.
My Librewolf gets strong protection from tracking and it’s fingerprint is common with millions (so not uniquely identifiable).
Massive surveillance programs won’t stop crime. Instead it will be used to persecute target demographic groups.
Acts of authoritarian control always claim to be done “for the children”. They don’t care about children, they want control.
ChromeOS is a totally locked down distro of Linux. I prefer Debian Linux with an XFCE desktop thank you.
The article compares Photography, (which despite being “created” by nature is copyrightable), to AI art. The difference between AI art and photography is that AI art is derivative of other artists and generalized into a Model. Nature is not derivative of other photography. Derivative work has special exemptions in copyright law which prevents it from being subject to copyright.
LibreWolf should be on the list.
Chrome, and it’s relatives like Edge, are no longer an option, so I use Firefox.
Nope. At any point in the future, Unity could simply stop the runtime fee waiver, and the developers would be screwed.
I do prefer to use a headphone jack when my phone is the source of music for my amplified sound system and large room speakers.
I was just trying (and failing) to imagine a distribution and development framework which was limited to those entities which agreed with a set of social parameters.
Do these numbers include kbin?
Ubuntu is massively overrated. It’s a bloated distro owned by a greedy corporation.
DuckDuckGo is not a wrapper for Bing, but is in fact a distinct and independent search engine. DDG does grab some results from bing. but it also grabs from other sources and it’s own crawler.
I use Debian XFCE, and it is perfect for me.
I never intend to use a flatpak or snap, and avoid them like the plague. The whole concept is incredibly ugly to me, and wasteful of computer resources.
As others have said, most people don’t install operating systems. They just buy a system, likely a laptop and run whatever OS is on it. Hardly any laptops come with Linux preinstalled unless you look pretty hard, or are searching specifically for one.
By refusing to let the protestors exit the freeway, the police caused the blockage of traffic to be over 3 hours longer, during the handling of all the arrests.
I never particularly cared for the Unity desktop. The first few times I tried it, there were hardware incompatibilities, slow performance, and crashing. Gnome3 is a complicated mess. I prefer to keep it simple. XFCE is fine for me.
