  • Video airplay is just inherently flawed, it seems.

I dug into some forums to try and find a solution to this, and I was able to find a few theories, none of which completely alleviated the issue for me.

Most of them centered around the wifi signal.

If you have a lot of other devices pinging Wi-Fi between your phone and the TV, this can allegedly cause disconnects and de-syncs.

If your wifi is slow, this can allegedly cause disconnects and de-syncs.

If you live in an apartment and your wifi channel is being hugged by other residents, this can allegedly cause disconnects.

I want to re-enforce the notion that none of this fixed the issue for me, but it might be worth going through the motions to see if it does for you, because some people were saying they had success after addressing these issues.

For streaming off of sites, I have actually had resounding success using my LG tv’s web browser. Connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. The browser actually has a built in adblocker. You still have to deal with link redirects occasionally though.

  • One time, Raccoons got into my tent, popped open my tent-mates snack box, and proceeded to fight each other viciously NOT ONLY outside AND inside the tent, but ON TOP OF ME as well.

It is hands down the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me. Raccoons aren’t inherently scary, but when there’s ~8 of them, they’re angry, and you can feel them viciously fighting directly on top of you, it’s enough to scar you for life.

I stayed stiff as a board in my sleeping bag for over an hour, just waiting for it to end. I remember having intense back and neck pain the morning after because I kept my body so rigid for so long.

I fucking hated that tent mate. He was and always will be a psycho. Pretty sure the fuck did it on purpose, because he slept in a different tent that night.

  • Same reason as everyone else, I reckon.

Apollo is the only way I’ve used reddit for about 6 years.

I don’t want ads, and I don’t want my data serving as an asset to capitalist pigs!

the fediverse was/is quite a daunting platform. I’m here for the long run (hopefully), but I worry that it will either continue to be a relatively vacant space compared to other media, or crumble under the weight of unexpected operating costs.

To anyone who has been here for quite some time, I ask you: what are some useful tricks to make the most out of the service?
