  • Update: thank you for pointing out to me which community this was posted on.

I’m going to leave this post up as a cautionary tale for people like me who don’t pay enough attention!

But Linux is cool cuz it’s so fast and it doesn’t break.

Long as I’ve been using it anyway.

So now linux is going to be much slower, going to break and be more susceptible to security breaches?

I’m not a programmer, is the upside supposed to be that with so many more programmers able to work on the kernel, those issues will be able to be fixed by the extra programmers?

It’s not like there’s anything wrong with Linux right now.

  • I use vlc, works regardless of the drivers you have and they have built in equalizers that you can easily adjust the max/min volume for until you find the volume you like, including one specifically for the dynamic range you’re talking about.

It’s been set how I like it for so long that I’m not sure anymore what the exact option is, but I’ll try to find it and I’m sure you could find it in the audio settings.

It’s some dynamic range compressor something in the audio options that you can very easily adjust for the maximum volume so that explosions won’t be so crazy loud but you can keep voices at their normal volume.

Ah, here. It is under tools effects Compressor. Enable the compressor.

You can use hotkeys to fiddle with the threshold until you find something that makes explosions or loud music quiet without affecting dialogue

  • Thanks, I just checked.

I’ve used chrome and duckduckgo on my Android, then Firefox and opera on my linux laptop, then chrome, edge and Opera on my windows 10 laptop.

I get taken straight to the main page on my Android and on the windows machine, but on the browsers using my Linux laptop, I receive the error message " application error: a client side exception has occurred. (See the browser console for more information. )."

Is there any other prerequisite I might have looked over before I’m supposed to click on that accept the invite link?

    Thanks.
