I didn’t pull those phrases out of thin air, they’re from OP.

Hmm, not familiar with the connection. I stumbled across it while roaming Wikipedia. Origins are unknown possible from “Samiel”, the name of the Devil in some opera. Or Sam Hill, a man in the 1800s known for using such foul language that his own name became a swear. Imagine that. While most strive to leave their mark on the world by leaving something good behind or raising good kids or helping someone in a life-changing way or whatever, he left behind his own name as a swear.
Please don’t put some ridiculous binary statement in my mouth. There’s miles of distance between “porn wrecks your mind” and “excessive porn use can contribute to mental health and relationship issues”.
Make an account, subscribe intentionally, set your default view to “Subscribed” instead of “All” or “Instance”. Then your original account is still there if and when you’re ready to go back. Or just do this on your main account if you prefer.
There’s no algorithm pushing content on Lemmy, it’s how you choose to set your view and what you choose to subscribe to.
Bolshe morality? What in the samhill is that?
Porn wrecks your mind?
Porn stops your sexuality? Wtf.
The real question is do you recognize you’re in some rabbit hole and that you shouldn’t assume even your starting framework is agreed upon by most other people.
Edit: your edit only makes me wonder if you’re satisfied with the algorithm funneling you to this sort of content and how your viewing habits reinforce it. Why wonder about people who think porn stunts their sexuality (still wtf?!?) when you can be watching literally anything else? Any idiot can post a YouTube video, doesn’t mean you have to watch it.
KitchenAid mixers before they got cheap
I inherited a 6" Wilton vise from my dad. He’s still alive but I convinced him to pass it on to me early because I had a couple projects it would be super helpful on. And maybe a little bit to beat my siblings to the punch.
Zippo lighters.
My dad also has a Lincoln Electric welder that will last to pass onto another generation or two. He still uses it though and again, I probably have a sibling or two who would also appreciate having it.

I accept this new term and will utilize it in everyday conversation. Thank you.
Refrigerating eggs also roughly doubles their shelf life.
Is salmonella vaccination required in the UK now? It’s been a few years but last I knew it was voluntary and roughly 3/4 of egg farmers did do it.
Egg farmers? Chicken ranchers? Poultry producer? Idk what they’re called.
Eat it with a cinnamon roll. No idea if it’s really a local Midwestern thing, it was claimed as a local thing where I grew up. All I know is chili and cinnamon roll works.
A school computer lab with a bunch of grubby-handed students touching and licking and who knows what to every surface? Yes, VGA cables get screwed down.
I’ve been rewatching at least one of Michael Flanagan’s horror series every year. Haunting of Hill House is my fave, but there’s also Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, Midnight Club, and Fall of the House of Usher. And a movie or two of his.
I try to make my own version of some popular fall food or drink. Like pumpkin spice whatever, apple cider doughnuts, sweet potato pie.
I don’t get trick or treaters, so I like mooching off friends. If someone has a super low key “party” where I can throw some candy at kids with fun costumes that come to their door, I’m there.
Something for the trip, maybe?
Will that trip be to a beach? Swimsuit or beach goodies.
Camping? New gear.
Camera. Travel luxuries like nicer luggage.
I think many people would agree with you. Not all.
Personally, I do think Puerto Rico is basically a colony in all but name. But I know people living in Puerto Rico now who disagree. And I tend to defer to the people actually living in The Place when it comes to discussions like this.
The Wikipedia article on the Puerto Rico statehood movement might also be interesting to you if you didn’t find it yourself already. Puerto Rico has had several referendums in recent years, on one of them:
the fourth referendum, held in November 2012, asked voters (1) whether they wanted to maintain the current political status of Puerto Rico and, if not, (2) which alternative status they prefer. Of the fifty-four percent (54.0%) who voted “No” on maintaining the status quo, 61.11% chose statehood, 33.34% chose free association, and 5.55% chose independence
just
It’s not simple. The history, government, and politics sections of the Wikipedia article on Puerto Rico is a great place to start.
Compared to most people in my IRL, yes. Compared to lots of people on Lemmy who work in industry or are much more serious hobbyists than me, no.
That wasn’t your question though. If a technical jerboa question is what you intended to ask, about 90% of your post didn’t need to be included and the question in the title needed to be very different.
As to your edit, I would not recommend PM’ing the user directly; that may be very unwelcome and further breach rules of that community. Personally, I would have asked the mods for a chance to edit my comment and apologize publicly. But with previous history of your self-described “psychosis”, if I were the mod I would be skeptical of your motivations.
Usually when I make a mistake while trying to act in good faith, I apologize. Posting about the interaction without apology and flashing names of non-mods involved is not the way to correct your mistake, nor to garner sympathy.
Of course it could happen. Do I think it will happen in the next two months as we get through election season? Nah.
I also don’t think a civil war in modern days would look anything like it did in the 1860s. Aside from the obvious advance in weapons and tactics, there’s no convenient clear line between one half and the other like there was with North/South. It would look more like civil wars do in other countries in the 21st century.
I think you have a very different perspective from me on what OP was asking and what this thread is. To paraphrase:
OP said “here are these extreme claims that seem strange to me, is this really what most people believe?”
To which I said, “wtf, no, those are way out there. You’re in a YouTube bubble that doesn’t reflect the mainstream nor anyone with a data-based position”.
And you… seem to want to argue about the actual effects of porn. This is not a conversation about the effects of porn, this is a thread about how the yt video OP saw is propaganda. You don’t need to expend effort to pick out the small bits of truth within misinformation and propaganda. If you want to discuss the effects of porn, post a thread and find someone who wants to have that discussion. Good luck.
