Clearly he should rename threads to Z.

Dumb story time:
Many years ago when meeting up with friends for drinks, one brought along her classmate/friend from out of town. I already thought she was cute, but then talking about work (as a jr. sysadmin at the time) she talks about her CS classes and that she was into Linux, so this was already “head over heels” territory for very early-twenties dork me.
So I decided to be saucy and asked her, “pico or vi?”
She immediately responded, “pico is for pussies.”
After I replaced my jaw, I did the only logical thing I could think of and proposed to her on the spot. I never saw her again.
I’m still pretty new to the Apple ecosystem but already got sucked into multiple devices. The YouTube channel “Proper Honest Tech” has been the only “in depth” source I’ve used, though while some things are fairly rudimentary or easy to find, he’s had a few videos detailing apps or features I hadn’t touched.
One thing I desperately want to make much better use of are shortcuts–the app is basically a (very) high-level programming language.
Totally an aside, but it’s funny I’ve been mostly out of networking and ipsec/cybersec for… a very long time… and only recently been realizing how far out of date I am while looking into pfSense and OpnSense info after finding an issue with my consumer/gamer router.
I’m very much going to be hitting up other resources mentioned in this thread too.
Great, I’m the jerk that shows up a few years afterward, inspecting the errant arm and elephant trunk wondering what the actual F the original programmer was thinking.
Then I cut off the trunk and slap a dog nose on it because I hate VB.
WHAT HAVE I BECOME!?
Normalize and index your damn drawers or you’re deadlocked!
Oops, sorry, uhh let me contact the admirals… oh uh, probably should hit the sonic shower if you got any on you…
“Software engineers aren’t real engineers because they don’t work on physical engines.”
-An absolute dumbass telling me this to my face years ago while literally designing a software solution for (hardware) engineers on a manufacturing line
The only annoying issue I’ve had so far is Fitness not reading the activity data properly.
I GOTTA CLOSE MY RING, MAN! (I’m waiting on my watch U2 so I can get into fitness+ properly)
Yes Apple forces everyone through webkit and won’t allow third-party blockers. Brave on iOS was forked from Firefox anyway, and iirc uses the same API to block ads as Firefox Focus. Google is most definitely not involved, particularly because both block YouTube ads (and is my primary reason for using Brave anyway).
I’m not sure what you’re referencing in regard to VPN usage; I have had zero problems with mine.
I appreciate that but my response was more intended to chastise the guy blanket labeling people cultists and idiots for no good reason because they hate a browser someone else uses.
The system-wide AdGuard app handles most things well enough, and Brave does its thing on YouTube ads without issue.
Firefox Focus will also take care of YouTube ads (if anyone else stumbles down this rabbit hole), but it’s too heavy-handed for me because I actually stay logged into my account and use my history.
My Pi-hole install also handles all but YouTube if I’m at home, so there’s that.
I’m open to suggestions for a workable alternative on iOS that blocks ads.
-An idiot, apparently
My shoe can practically run Linux as a desktop OS.
Though to be fair, there’s no real reason anything that runs 10 can’t run windows 11 besides Microsoft’s artificial compatibility list.
Yeah, that’s where nightly was when I still had it, with only a few, if important, extensions available.
But RES and old.reddit were no-go and made me sad. At least I had RIF (RIP IN PEACE).
Either way, glad to see it’s getting wider support for all. I wish it worked that way in fruitymobileland, but at least there is a browser (Orion) that actually supports both FF and Chrome extensions that tries to make up for things.
Really!? Well, shit, I hate life more, then.
Had to use the nightly build version, though I suck and I’ve been off platform too long
It’s the thing I miss most after intentionally going to ‘that other platform’ for dev reasons, though Brave Browser is a decent stand-in for FF+uBlock on this side of the walled garden.
Am I posting on social media?
If so, then, and wherever my phone pings to a tower.
Well, or I’m on the exercise bike, because the phone thinks I’m taking steps, so I double up on calorie calculations as an excuse to drink more.
… but that stays only on the phone, right?
…right?
I’m just sad they never added all the ones I submitted 20-whatever years ago.
