1·2 months agoNothing is private on the fediverse, and Mastodon’s bodge only gives the illusion of privacy. There should be zero expectation that any fediverse software will follow their non-standard extensions.
There’s easily over a thousand fediverse instances at this point, having to whitelist them all would be impractical.

12·2 months agoI guess it’s very “on brand” for the devs of a privacy project to be extremely paranoid.

It’s worth noting that graphene doesn’t have automatic calls recording, and the Devs have been weirdly aggressive about deleting and banning people that ask for it.

I went to a Church school.
I think I watched a documentary on this, not sure if it was the ISS but something like this already happened and they literally duct taped the hatch closed as a precaution.
Worse case scenario I imagine the procedure would be to duct tape the person up so they can’t do anything stupid.
If anything it’s the opposite. They want user retention so they have an incentive to show you people that won’t work long term.
I’ve read some people get help from the cooling these provide, but I think there’s versions without subscriptions.
Also I’ve read of people buying shit like this in the hope it helps intractable insomnia, and they probably aren’t thinking that clearly, because of sleep deprivation.
There’s nothing you can do for profile data, public key encryption is an option for DMs.

19·3 months agoMaybe a general tag system, with community owners able to add tags that automatically apply to all posts, would be good? Otherwise there’s potential for special purpose tags like this to start piling up.
