  • I think this idea is good. I remember seeing those domain names last year. At the time it seemed muddy and uncomfortable to me, since there was a whole scheme of Reddit ghost accounts posting, while I understood there were good intentions behind it, mirrored posts were flooding users’ All feed to the point I started blocking a bunch of subs, and many admins defederated.

If we can promote the community first approach where the domain is the space for discussion to be held and stored, with users connecting from across the Fediverse, this would be excellent, a good alternative to massive centralized Lemmy servers. Collective ownership would ensure preservation of content if one or more go offline.

  • Compared to other national and international chains, I’ll pick Dominos. Here in Vancouver there are just so many local pizza shops and smaller chains to choose from, even the cheaper/quantity over quality chains taste better than both Pizza Hut and Domino’s (I’m thinking Freshslice for the Western Canadians in the room). Even corporate pizza events here don’t go with Domino’s, which was the go to when I was elsewhere.

  • Well, as you may be aware, banks like getting money.

Taking money from their customers through banking fees and interest on both deposits and loans isn’t enough for the banks and credit card issuers. So they sell credit card and loan usage information to whoever will pay for it, and these credit monitoring companies will, to keep a file on you (tied to your SSN/SIN). They know how many loan accounts and how long you’ve had them for, how often you pay your loan bill on time vs. not, what % of your credit limit you tend to use each month, and when you go shopping for new loans (since loan agencies will request your file from them to determine whether you are trustworthy enough).

  • What the… this is so infuriating to a railfan. It’s like they are trying to attach a 2x viewer multiplier by putting Elon-related keyword in it when Tesla has so little to do with it.

It’s not a Tesla train, nor a battery from Tesla, nor operated by Tesla, not even a new route (but granted an expanded timetable)

I wish media hyped trains like this in general and not limited to implicitly attributing it to Musk (who made hyperloop specifically to distract from High Speed Rail, mind you)… “GIGA TRAIN brings commuters to work”, “Hyper train first electric regional service in California - you won’t believe the capacity!”
