I agree with you, lol. The other day I tried windows 11 at a store, and it was a pain. The learning curve was bigger from windows 10 -> 11 than from windows 10 -> KDE.

Love to read this, I’m exactly on the same journey! Was using Mint until a few days ago, and now I’m on Aurora. There is a bit of a learning curve due to the atomic factor (some apps aren’t in Discover), but overall I’m happy with the stability.
Linux is truly wonderful and I look forward to learning more and seeing it grow. Fuck Microsoft, I’m done with their crap.

Unsolicited advice, but don’t adopt the latest browser/search engine/OS that promise privacy and/or security, and you’ll avoid a lot of disappointment. Most fall apart at the seams within a year or less.
If the one browser/SE/OS you currently use works, stick with it until more research on the newer stuff comes out. Then you can reassess.

I’m currently testing fedora (upgrading from mint) and since I’m fairly new I don’t want to venture into the fairly unknown territory that is Immutable atm.

I tolerated all the way to windows 10 but windows 11 was the last nail in the coffin for me. I probably am indeed late to the party but tbh Linux didn’t inspire me until recently when I saw its became way more user-friendly than it was in 2015 when I first tried it.
I thought Fedora didn’t either? That’s a Ubuntu exclusive I think (not sure!). In any case, its a couple lines on the terminal and it’s gone.
I think because other distros don’t have half the issues Arch has, pacman isn’t as important in keeping the system “stable”.

The GDPR wants a standardised way of choosing which apps can track you and which don’t, and Apple is out of the norm. You’re just upset because the EU is forcing apple to standardise, is that it? Were you also upset when the EU forced apple to adopt USB-C too? You’re literally complaining about having more choice.

No. The GDPR is an all encompassing law, the logic of which being giving people THE CHOICE to let apps personalise their ads, or not. Apple takes away that choice by not allowing tracking by default on a per-app basis. This is what is at stake.
What Apple is doing is indeed disrespecting the spirit of the law by taking away the choice of being tracked, while also damaging EU businesses who rely on advertising because believe it or not, there are many small app creators as well as small advertising companies operating in the EU.
Its not the EUs fault that US companies keep breaking the law. Don’t break the law, don’t get fined. It really is simple. EU companies aren’t getting these fines.
