Shikaka!
Shikaka!
Do a barrel roll.
I remember being amazed at how “realistic” the cars looked, nowadays it looks pretty dated.
That game got me into Garbage (the band) though. One of their songs was on the game soundtrack.
That’s not an ad. It’s the App Store storefront. You have the App Store as a widget in standby mode. It did that because you may have recently used App Store.
All you have to do is hold your finger on it until you get into edit mode, and then tap the minus sign to remove it. More info here:
Oh wow I loved the first one!
This reminds me of the legend of “Mr. Bones Wild Ride.”
Microsoft: “Hey Apple, wanna buy some of our stuff?”
Apple: “Sure. What’re you sellin’? Xbox? O365? Exchange?”
Ms: “No No. Bing!”
Ap: “…bing?”
Ms: “Bing! Our search eng-“
Ap: “-Not interested.”
Ms: “C’mon! We’ll throw in uh uh- Teams!”
Ap: “VERY NOT INTERESTED!”

It’s not an ad. It’s a Siri suggestion.
Siri suggestions are just recommendations from the Siri search engine, based on your input. Since the device was new out of the box, it didn’t have any decent input yet so it just looks like a “random ad”. After using the phone for a while, the Siri suggestions will be more in tune with your habits (like your favorite traffic app for commuting, your upcoming calendar events, etc).
Apple doesn’t sell advertising space on their Home Screen.
The first generation of Apple leather cases were great. They definitely aged beautifully. But the latest versions were not good.
Every Mac I’ve bought in the past 20 years has been via Apple’s refurbished section of their online store. Full warranty, current or recent gen models, good discounts.
Apple Maps has never steered me wrong, and I like how it pings my Apple Watch so I don’t have to even look at the screen.
Plus no on-screen ads, like 3rd party apps do.
Whoever said “there’s no such thing as a wrong opinion” never encountered a post like yours.
Touch-screen gestures are the best part of having a touch screen, and Apple’s implementation of such gestures is so well-received it’s been licensed and borrowed and imitated by all of its rivals.
I can’t imagine having a touch screen without swipe to scroll / pinch to zoom / press-and-hold for pop-ups, and so on.
It completely eliminates the need for physical buttons or on-screen real estate being covered by fake buttons.
All that being said, have you explored iOS’s robust Accessibility features? Geared toward people with limited abilities / handicaps, you can modify how some gestures respond and even add on-screen buttons in some ways. It might be worth checking out.
I really enjoyed Disco Elysium. It’s one of the best text-driven RPG games out there.
Oh wow. I remember playing Neopets back when I was in college, while I worked nights at Kinko’s. It just only just launched, only had a few games and not many pet options yet. I had a “korbat” I think.
I’m amazed that site is still around.
Go to: Settings -> iCloud settings (your name at the top of the Settings screen) -> Password & Security -> Automatic Verification (at the bottom)
My kid is under 10 and absolutely adores all things Minecraft. He will be over the moon to hear this news. So will all his friends.
