Maybe I am an odd duck, but when I have been the guy looking at resumes and shit, I made a note not to read peoples email addresses. I don’t care if your email is cumdumpster19 I care if you know how to configure a firewall. But I think most people look for reason to round file a resume and not reasons to say yes to an applicant.
What is the implication for Lemmy and other federated platforms? Is running a Lemmy instance going to now come with a huge legal risk and moderation requirements that three people with day jobs can’t handle?
When I was on help desk I often talked about meeting the client where they were at in their technical skill level. Sometimes their technical skill level was “Can you click the icon in the bottom left that looks like a window with four pains, and then click the settings icon it looks like a gear”. If mounting a file share was involved I just remoted in, none of the people that called could handle those instructions.
This is my exact feeling.
