I am not even the person that you initially responded to. You’re just a lib that is in way over your head in a topic you refuse to engage in critically because it makes you uncomfortable.

Where the hell was China even brought up? This thread afaik is about settler brainworms regarding space colonization.
Like colonize is literally in the title of this post.
Allegations of what exactly. What are you alleging about me?
I fuckin burned my draft card and was getting tear gassed protesting against the Iraq war over twenty years ago. Fuck off with that shit.
No you’re just a settler brain dipshit that gets uncomfortable getting called out, the fact you are an Aussie calling someone else westerner is fucking rich lmao.
Yeah they will smugly condescend to us with their “not a team sport” shit all the while demanding we vote for their particular team because harm reduction or whatever. Meanwhile every president and 99% of congress people of either party in my 40 years has done the same genocidal shit.
Also funny how libs mistake actual structural material analysis as “culture war tropes” because their framework for viewing the world is constrained by their MSNBC vs Fox News idea of good and bad and anything that challenges it must be from the wrong side of said culture war. Which funnily enough is also culture war bullshit.
“Surely I can’t be racist I’m one of the good white people!”
That submarine stunt was one of the funniest things that has ever happened.
Honestly if we wanted to do something neat that is almost exactly like settling an alien landscape we should invest in more deep sea research.
We don’t even know shit about Giant Squid which are like the coolest most alien thing on earth.
My grandpa helped design and test the tech for ballistic missiles while working as a private contractor for a now defunct aerospace corporation under contract with NASA.
If he was still alive I would say he gets the wall too.
Ironically enough in their fantasy about reaching mars with privatized space planes that is an extremely likely scenario lol
Culture war is when a person points out the chauvinism inherent in cracker fantasies about colonizing the stars because there is nowhere left to colonize here without just admitting to themselves they just want to subjugate everyone and everything on earth and above.
@frauddogg@hexbear.net is 100% correct in every single comment they have made in this thread.
I can’t really even add anything to this other than say they right fuck off.
metacarpals cuz it sounds like some shit a european philosopher from the 19th century wrote a 2000 page thesis on.
They are so fuckin huge dude.
They have one of the largest wingspans of any bird. Like their wingspan is ~9.5 feet.
Yeah check out my comment on the Santa Cruz salamander.
See my other comment about California condors. I actually got to be part of their rehabilitation efforts and thanks to the university I worked with we got them from about 27 total known individuals left to over 170 last data I can find.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Cruz_long-toed_salamander
So rare I don’t even know if they still exist.
I did some field biology work back in the mid 2000s and this is the only reason I know this.
There is also the California Condor and a species of kangaroo rat in the Mojave. The former is less rare now due to an immense amount of work we did to save the species to the point where they actually got removed from the endangered list at one point.
Look at this little guy though
As for the Condors:
The condor population (wild and captive) has steadily increased, reaching over 460 in 2017 (with 170 wild condors in California). For the most current update check out the Condor Population Status Summary (PDF)
Back when I was doing field work they were down to only 27 and all had been moved to captivity.
The situation with the salamander is much more dire
Its limited range and fragile specialized habitat place severe restrictions to the viability of this species. There is no definitive population estimate for the Santa Cruz long-toed salamander, but the numbers are deemed to be quite small. Further disturbance of its limited habitat could lead to this species’ extinction.
Probably my hatchet, first aid kit, and a duffel bag I keep packed with all weather gear and a small tent as well as my headlamp, survival knife, and half a dozen MREs
I’m not even a “collapse is imminent” prepper kinda guy but it’s better to be safe than sorry, you never know.
I got to see it opening weekend with my mom and stepdad who took me to see it because I wasn’t 13 yet but was absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs to a more academic extent than your average 9 year old even has any business being. The box office had a giant hand sculpted pterodactyl in a nest on top of it which was one of the coolest things ever.
You should also definitely read the books, there is a much stronger emphasis on how capitalism makes everything shittier and endangers workers and compromises scientific integrity, which makes it especially shameful that toward the end of his life Crichton turned into a fuckin climate change denying right wing crank.
Jurassic Park hands down.
This sounds suspiciously like bootlicking
The correct answer is to unionize.
They didn’t though
They just said “fact” in quotes.
If they had said “actually I am from x” I could have engaged differently. But frankly it doesn’t matter because they are getting very defensive and calling others westerners without even saying where they are from. They certainly don’t have to I aint fishing for personal info or anything but given the surrounding context I could not help but respond the way I did.
