  • I don’t mean interacting directly with ICANN. I mean directly interacting with registries, like Verisign.

They control the .com top level domain. They do not interact with consumers, and require you to use a third-layer of registrars to interface with them.

ICANN shouldn’t get into the direct-to-consumer business, that is true and not the issue I am speaking about.

If you want someone else’s servers to replicate a piece of information for you, and you want them to take responsibility for administrative issues like figuring out whether you still want it next year or what to do if you’re doing something illegal

I would like none of these services. I would simply like my domain name to be mapped to my server’s IP. I don’t want to have to pay a registrar, I would like to submit my domains to registers directly. There is a business layer of middle-men who do not need to exist.

  • How are you using dolphin to emulate N64?

Dolphin has no native N64 emulation support. Are you using N64 ports from the Wii? Those are running using Nintendo’s Wii-based emulator (which also has known issues) on top of the Wii emulation. That introduced a whole second layer of technical issues.

Not that the N64 roms aren’t playable, but the problem is more technical on why it’s so difficult to emulate the specific N64 hardware perfectly using just modern software

  • My mortgage is significantly less than my last apartment down the road. $2700 vs $2100. Same size living space (1000sqft, 2bed), an extra basement, and I get to live in a marginally more affluent area. That difference in monthly payments more than covers monthly housing maintenance costs. And property tax is already included in that $2100 mortgage, which is how it is usually handled in my state.

And you get equity instead of throwing away your income to a faceless real estate corporation for no gain. Owning a house is 100% better in every way, unless you need to quickly move for some reason.

But even then, it’s rare to see a house be on the market for more than a month, MAYBE two before getting sold. You can move out on a couple months notice, instead of having to wait for your annual lease to run out.

But when you do move, you sell your house for ✨ profit ✨ because the housing market only goes UP for some retarded reason.

I’ve helped three friends and coworkers navigate buying their first house in the past couple years. They are all better off financially for it.
