Mint for years but i forget. In the updates make sure fully updated first. Then i remember some sort of upgrade command.
Im not much help but i think i did it once. Or you can preserve your home folder, broweser bookmarks, etc… the load the new os from scratch, but im sure theres an upgrade option.

libre office not being a smart arse either. it’s the easiest way. i am making some assumptions however. i assume you are a full on Linux user at home and have to deal with MS Office documents of various types at work or some other reason. you can work on that document at work un MS Office. bring it home and work on it some more in libre office. and back again.

i went cold turkey when i got that early, free upgrade from win7 to win 10. after a week of win 10 and unable to downgrade back to 7. Bam. i became full time linux at that moment.
Ok I’d cut through all of this and focus on your needs: phone with no spying, can’t find rom. I assume you mean your phone isn’t supported for graphene, lineage, or calyxos, or any others I missed?
Easiest way: buy a phone that is supported for the privacy minded os you want.
On the windows side of things (at my job) i dumped onenote for cherry tree. Its on portable apps website.
Not sure for linux. I run linux at home but only need one note- like programs at work.
Welcome. It’s pretty good for getting an overview of a given distro. Very well organized. Also if your are into distro hopping for whatever reason, they have a random button somewhere on the site to view a random distro.
