Unfortunately, the stock one will be the only one with even a sliver of privacy preserving measures (so far). I tried Swiftkey when it first got released on iOS, and not only did it just not feel right like the stock one, it was also bought by Microsoft at that point and I hadn’t known since the last time I was on Android, they did not own it. :/
If you do find one though, let me know! I love trying out new things!
I understand needing to protect your IP, in some sense, but what I’m getting at is that when a fan game is made, it is a homage to a beloved franchise that fosters love for the IP. If you were a smart company, you would foster this love for your franchise, to entrench the fans you already have, and to gather more fans because you are seen as the company that “does no wrong”, which in turn also increases your profits. Imagine if instead of taking these love letters to your franchise down (which makes you look like an absolute fucking ass to most), you made a feature of it on an official channel. Look at Scott Cawthon and his Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. He encourages people to make fan games using his original ideas and that encourages people to not only love his own games, but to go out and start developing their own little games that include ideas that Scott may not have even thought about including before. I guess what I’m trying to say is that there is a good way of protecting your IP by taking down blatant rip offs of your game that want to steal money from your fans, and cause confusion to new fans. Then there is the bad way, which is taking down these passionate love letters to your franchise that encourage others to look at the original source and see why they even decided to take the time to create the fan game in the first place. IF the fan game is trying to monetize, then by all means, send a warning. Tell them to not monetize it, and they are free to continue. If they continue, Cease and Desist. Hopefully that makes sense.
I’m the same. I play retro and indie titles on the Deck, and more modern and demanding games on the desktop.
What about the fan games that were made of pure passion for the IP that they’ve taken down?
To name a few:
Pokemon Uranium
Pokemon Prism
Mario Maker 64
Another Metroid 2 Remake
Zelda Maker
Ocarina of Time 2D
Zelda 30
There are countless others I’m sure.
FUCK Nintendo.
I corrected my comment. I was talking about a fully open source version. This version does have online, and I’m sure some QoL, but I feel like you were thinking I was talking about the actual Jagex game. :)
For OP, and anyone else that wants to play this version of Runescape again, but fully offline and mobile (you can run it off a USB)!
I agree. 2009scape scratches the itch that RuneScape provides and it’s playable offline. The game doesn’t have every single quest, but the addictive part is still there.
Don’t use Microsoft’s version. Use Vscodium! :)
Not OP, but Dead Money story is at least semi interesting. I didn’t have a hard time with the DLC due to my character being overpowered in Fallout 3, and going through most of the main story before splitting off into the New Vegas DLCs.
For both of you, I recommend a playthrough of Tale of Two Wastelands as it incorporates Fallout 3 into New Vegas’ better engine, and allows you to carry over your character from either or to the next game. By this, I mean you can even start New Vegas first, and then head to the Capital Wasteland. It makes more sense to do Fallout 3 first though, with the whole birthing scene in the very beginning of the game. :)
I love this animation of Gabe! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for this! I did not know Kagi was doing that, and I was about to cave in and start trying it out!
I thought this was Skyrim too!
I remap the sides of the touch pad to be Select and Start, because the damn normal buttons are way too small for my thumbs!
Freakin’ Jerries man…
Love your content, and hope you never forget to post! :)
Hello! Just going to plug 2009scape, which is an open source version of old school RuneScape. It is available to download and play entirely offline with single player. It is just fine enough if you just want to scratch that age old RuneScape itch. :)
Do you really think I’m fucking stupid?
So, you just said that they charge for ONE instance, the same amount they charge for 10,000. How is it they can charge the same amount without applying your little bulk buy analogy???
So, why does the same not apply to Proton? Proton can charge the lower amount, as they should, and win by acquiring more subscriptions and more consistent revenue because more people will find it worth the fucking price.
Try harder.
Ah, yes. Comparing a digital asset that is infinite, to a product that is physical and finite.
Try harder.
I guess I’m just crazy for thinking lower prices = more subscriptions.
Have you tried Unbound?
