It’s from 2018. Sounds like what you don’t know could fill a warehouse.

What data? Your pizza order data? What extra data does the app look at?
I genuinely don’t know because I have pizza places that don’t suck. You can get a real pizza for $20.
I just realized something: since most people have no idea what AI is, it could easily be used to scam people. I think that will be it’s main function originally.
Like the average person does not have access to real time stock data. You could make a fake AI program that pretends to be a trading algorithm and makes a ton of pretend money as the mark watches. The data would be 100% real and verifiable, just picked a few seconds after the the fact.
Since most people care a lot about money, this will be some of the first widespread applications of real time AI. Just tricking people out of money.
It isn’t particularly hard to call this out. Just say “I haven’t done anything since Friday.” And leave it at that.
Be comfortable with silence.
PMs act that way because people above them ask for updates regularly. Bad PMs don’t know how to push back. If you need things done faster, the answer is usually “we need more resources”.
😂
Tone police? That’s rich, coming from the comment police. Besides, you said it twice:
Nothing has changed, it was obvious what was happening long ago, but we’ve done nothing but watch it get worse.
Do you think no one can provide context for your comments? Everyone has to agree with you 100%?
So you’re intentionally exaggerating when you say “nothing has changed”. Yeah nothing has changed, except an entire Executive Branch department that didn’t exist before. It was more influential than many other books written at the time.
Of course the author wanted the book to be even more influential, that’s why authors write. No writer says “this book kinda sucks, I hope people read half of it and put it down”.
“The Jungle” famously spurred large reforms. The FDA exists and has a lot of power because people were disgusted by what they read.
That’s why you’re reading a hundred-year-old book: it was influential.
True. He’s probably telling the truth about a lot of things, but notice what he doesn’t say. He’s a smart guy and is not saying certain things to stay on Putin’s good side.
He’s been in Russia 10 years now. He would probably be out of jail if he had surrendered. Chelsea Manning is already out:
She was sentenced to 35 years at the maximum-security U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth. On January 17, 2017, Obama commuted Manning’s sentence to nearly seven years of confinement dating from her arrest in May 2010.
Yeah, this is the problem. Someone who has legitimately built a basic application or website from scratch may know everything you need, but HR will filter it out.
They don’t really understand what they are looking for, so someone who says they are an AI Researcher with 8 years of experience in the language “Zendaya” and work experience at five moon rocket startups will be at the top of the pile.
Companies need to beef up their training programs so they can literally take in whoever and teach them what they need to know. Forget trying to get the top people. Just take the first 20 who can make it through an interview without drooling on the floor. You will probably get at least 9 ok developers and 1 good one.
Yeah, it’s extremely easy to not be blocked.
I dunno. It was there before. Maybe just total their last 5 comment scores. So it’s easy to just not be a dick all the time and get through the filter.
I wish you could set a personal minimum “karma” and age requirement. Like I don’t want to hear from anyone with an account made in the last week. And no one with karma below zero.
It’s not really a high bar, it mainly blocks people who get banned all the time.
I read that page too. They also say:
Devices containing lithium metal or lithium ion batteries (laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.) should be carried in carry-on baggage
So it’s not “ok”, but they probably don’t want to deal with arresting people for it.
No, it doesn’t depend on the airline. In the US, the TSA banned all lithium batteries in checked baggage:
It’s illegal to put a lithium battery in your checked luggage anyway.
It’s just American cheese. If that’s the best you’ve ever had, you’re remembering incorrectly. Maybe it was the best thing you had at the time. It’s definitely not good cheese.
Don’t listen to anyone else mentions “guillotines”. It didn’t even work for the people of Paris, who eventually burned it.
The fundamental problem is, people want to live in certain locations and in modern homes. There’s plenty of cheap land in the middle of nowhere but no modern comforts. And modern homes are much harder to build than older ones were. This reduces the supply of new homes and increases the value of existing housing.
One potential solution is taxing rental income and supporting first time homebuyers more. Or maybe increasing regulations and inspections of rental properties. This would remove the worst landlords and lower the cost of buying a house. Literally tax rentals and send the money to first time homebuyers.
Landlord are fine, just like private farming is fine. Food is necessary to live too, but few people are clamoring for “government cheese”. The problem is the housing market is full of unregulated rentals where the only qualification to rent something is having the key. Make landlords jump through some hoops and the worst ones will sell to first time homebuyers.
Uhh… it’s the designers, or maybe QA people. If there are no QA people, it’s whatever project manager let it out of it’s cage.
There are people behind these models. They don’t spring out of the ground fully formed.
