$PWD is your current directory. You could fully type it out too. I’m on mobile so I can’t see the picture and write a comment at the same time.
The long and short of what we’re accomplishing here is that we’re making your user the owner of this directory, and then making the user and its group able to read, write, and execute files within the directory.

You need to be the owner of the directory. Try this:
sudo chown -R coldwater $PWD
sudo chmod 775 $PWD

Right? Decades of Linux use, been a Linux admin for half of it. Still reinstall when I’m not happy with the way things are going. It’s just faster.
Oh it’s totally inefficient. It’s not the most feasible with my current setup, so I’m making do with what I have at the moment.
