Being forced to be online to log in and forced use of OneDrive confuses new users just as much
You’re not forced to use either of those, IIRC. Just set it up without connecting to the internet or without signing in.

I installed Mint on a USB to give it a go.
My wifi driver doesn’t work on it. I have to plug my phone in to use it as a tethered hotspot to get it to connect. And I tried what a lot of the guides said online. Nothing.
I’d say I have the technical chops. I just don’t have the time and energy needed to try to fix something.
I’m also the kind of person that, if everything’s not working exactly the way I want it to, then I need to fix it right now. So I know I’d waste hours trying to fix something that (for me) just works on Windows.
To be fair, at least with Windows, if you do a reinstall I’ve always found that it never runs quite like it used to. I’ve sometimes had to deal with some weird quirks afterwards. A friend of mine who kept switching between Google Android and open-sourve Android on his phone said the same thing. Every time he reinstalled Google Android, it simply wouldn’t run as well as it did beforehand.
It’s like taking a plumbing pipe out and putting it back in. Or taking apart a car engine and putting it back together. It never quite fits together the way it used to anymore.

They update on two Tuesdays a month
Correction: It updates every second Tuesday of the month. (Not including any potential “Preview” updates which might get released. Those are all optional updates, though.)
I’m curious if they still have the most downvoted comment on Reddit.
Edit: Yep.
I’m not quite that young. Netizen is a “citizen of the internet”, IIRC. More specifically, it’s a portmanteau of “internet” and “citizen”.
I had also heard what the meaning of GIF was, though not so often that I could remember it off the top of my head.
I’m not quite as old as the JPG format, but I do still remember using dial-up. I still remember accidentally logging into the internet when my dad was on the phone one day. I could hear his voice through the computer speakers. I immediately closed the browser. It was something that’d, surprisingly, never happened while I was on the computer before.
Yeah, but it’s almost always used for animations. Seeing one that’s not animated just feels… weird.
That’s… a great question. What’s the purpose of a gif with only one frame?
Fortunately, it seems Game Pass subscribers have pretty much stalled out since 2021. There’s been no significant ride in subscribers since then.
It’s not in the EULAs pertaining to this game, and Sony changed their PC Games FAQ on May 3rd after the announcement that PSN would be required, meaning the FAQ people read when they bought the game is different from the one Sony is trying to enforce.

I just use the AdGuard app. It runs all my Internet traffic through an on-device VPN server (The VPN is the phone itself.), and it uses that to filter out all the ads.
Like ability to install different desktop enviroment?
Technically, with root access, yeah. It’s just that Android’s UI isn’t a DE/WM in the desktop Linux sense
You can also just install different apps that change the home screen. Android calls them “launchers”. You can install one from the Google Play Store or elsewhere like any other app. Then just set it up. Once it’s setup, the phone simply loads that app’s launcher instead of the phone’s default launcher (which is usually also an app).
What’s the number of Threads users compared to Lemmy? If the number of Threads users greatly outweigh the number of Lemmy users, then we’d simply be drowned out by all the Threads posts. That’s part one of Embrace, Extend, Extinguish.
Extend adds functionality to Threads that Lemmy either can’t support or won’t support for a while due to development time. People migrate to Threads because Lemmy is “missing” functionality. Plus, though I’m not clear on the exact legal specifications, proprietary code can be added to open-source code, and the proprietary code would be copyrighted. In other words, Lemmy devs would have to figure out a way to interact with and mimic Threads’ proprietary code using open-source code.
Extinguish is when Threads’ support of Lemmy is eventually dropped. The users left on Lemmy have suddenly lost a huge amount of content, and they’re left with fewer users than before Threads enabled federation.
Ironically, Microsoft would later remove Cortana itself in an update.
Asking stuff like that is always a good idea, IMO. It could be the difference between a successful Linux install and a very expensive paperweight.
… Don’t ask me how to install it, though. I’ve only tried Ubuntu as a dual-boot, and that was several years ago.
Yeah, what happened with GitHub?
Believe it or not, I don’t think this is technically from an anime. One of the characters is (the short one in front), but the picture itself appears to be from DeviantArt. The other character, as far as I can tell, is an OC. (Someone correct me if I’m wrong.) Even the DeviantArt post just calls him “Anime Boy”.
The short character in front appears to be a character named Tomoko Kuroki, the main character in the show “No Matter How I Look At It, It’s You Guys Fault I’m Not Popular!” (It’s apparently usually referred to by a shortening of it’s Japanese title: “WataMote”.)
I’m a little surprised I learned all this just from a reverse image search.
The last time I had to setup a Windows profile (late last year on my then-new laptop), that was the case. Has that changed?
