You can’t, constantly washing hands…
You can’t, constantly washing hands…
An overly expensive crown.
True. Mac users couldn’t handle that much glory on their hands.
Every social media platform with a feed uses some system to rank content for its individual users. This can be abused to subtly influence users.
You say TikTok has never harmed you but the truth is you probably wouldn’t know. You just changed your mind about certain things over time.
That problem is certainly not specific to TikTok and I personally avoid also YouTube, Reddit or anything Facebook but it’s not hard to believe that a Chinese or Russian platform is even less hesitant to influence elections, for example.

I just followed the note that’s mentioned on the top of your link and installed the Nvidia driver as dkms package. I originally did that because of trouble with a new driver version and temporary downgrading is much smoother with dkms.
Also never had issues with the DE starting properly after upgrade since then.
Well, trying to take your point seriously I guess you could argue that companies with paying customers do have an incentive to keep stuff compatible. However, also FOSS devs don’t like public shitstorms by their users which should be a similarly effective.
However, you just argue based on annecodotal evidence without explaining how your examples are exclusive to FOSS.

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or serious. I’ve been using computers for decades and not once adjusted fan speeds, so that function doesn’t seem very basic to me.
Would you agree that what makes Linux laughable as a replacement for consumers is how splitered or fractured it is?
Again, while you might have a point, your tone just sucks and makes me not want to interact with you.
Consumers can just pick one off-the-hook polished distro like Mint and are never even confronted with all the possible choices.
I also think “year of the desktop” is a unicorn (even if it were to come, you wouldn’t pin it on one year - it’s a process) and I personally believe that if Windows is going to die, it will be replaced by some web-only shit instead of another local desktop-based OS.
However, Linux desktop adoption did increase quite steeply in the past few years and to a point I confidently moved also my wife’s and mother’s computers to Linux because it actually causes me less headache than Windows did.
So, no need to be condescending and sarcastic about it.
This is a good summary. It really depends on the game. There even are a few examples where a Windows native game runs faster on Linux with Proton.
No idea what you mean. I just quickly wanted to update before calling it a night, got a grub update and now it neither boots the default nor the fallback image. I use Arch BTW.
127.0.0.1 then?
