Subbed, thanks! Looks like a good resource.

Yeah, I think this is a great take. It’s pretty easy to avoid all the mercenary practices that tend to plague most “AAA” titles these days— mostly by not buying the games at launch; eventually they all come around as giveaways, or at least at a deep discount. And as you say, there are a plethora of small developers putting out amazing games all the time. I’ve been getting a ton of mileage the last couple of months out of Vagrus and Dredge.
It’s because Epic bought the Rocket League devs, Psyonix, in 2019. In 2020, they pulled it from Steam, to drive traffic to the Epic store. And yes, it’s also free to play now, but you still can’t get it on Steam, unless you bought it there before they pulled it. If you did, it still works fine on Steam today.
I love Roadwarden! My only issue is that I’ve taken a break for a while mid-playthrough, and now I don’t remember what I was doing. I may just have to start fresh. I also just picked up Vagrus: The Riven Realms, which is similarly awesome.
That’s weird, it accepted “microwave oven” from me just now. My last two questions were:
Is it some kind of oven? 👍
Is it a microwave oven? Yep you got it!
Edit: looks like they implemented a fix for this
It’s very well done! It wasn’t really on my radar, but I got it for free from epic, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ditto Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I think the only things I’ve paid for on the epic store are the dlc from those gems.
Lothar of the Hill People
(but we haven’t made any videogames about it)
I tried to find one, but it looks like you’re right. This is the closest I could find, and they seem to be based in Paris.
Would you care to expand on this? My impression is that he did what he did out of ethical concerns, and has paid a high price for it.
