BlueMagma@sh.itjust.worksto Games@lemmy.world•PEGI gives Balatro an 18+ rating for gambling imageryEnglish121·7 months agoBut poker is only a gambling game because when you play it you “give up” something of value in the hope of winning more through playing and randomness. What makes it gambling is not the cards or the chips it’s the gambling aspect. Balatro uses card and poker hands, and so does “yatzhee”, but it does not use any gambling mechanic. Lootboxes on the other hand use gambling mechanic.
Linux supports most games nowadays. It will never support “all” games. Just like windows doesn’t support all games. At this point in time, saying Linux is not good enough with gaming is weird…

BlueMagma@sh.itjust.worksto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•My college sent warning email regarding pirated software use by students.English22·11 months agoThese softwares use your pc’s network connections to send data to the servers which then checks whether you paid a license or not. When they can’t use your internet connection, they also add personal information to any file you generate with the softwares such that if you send the file to someone else who has a license they will unknowingly rat on you through their connection.
Also: please check the other end of the cable, the one that isn’t plug in the wall, yes that one, plugged on the screen, unplug and plug it back in please.
BlueMagma@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's your most unpopular opinion about music ?6·1 year agoWell godd news then, you can start to enjoy music about religion, cause I feel like every other popular song is about that, and I am just as annoyed as you, be careful though there are overlap betweem the two. 😄

I was that kid and I still upvoted his comment, I don’t use downvote as a disagree/punish button, I only use it for agressive/uninteresting comment. I think we should upvote any comment that create interesting discussion, even if we disagree with the core message.
BlueMagma@sh.itjust.worksto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•I'll never understand this kind of mindset.English107·1 year agoWrong, I was that kid and I hate denuvo just like everybody else.
Also I don’t think it works as an analogy, the kid reminding the teacher about homework does it because he likes school, and learning, he does it for himself and everybody else, he never imagine other kids would not like it. This guy doesn’t do this for himself or others, he does this out of spite of others, to punish people, he doesn’t gain anything.
Thank god we don’t have to deal with costumers, imagine what outfit you’d have to wear to deal with them. And to make it work you’d probably have to wear make up too, it’d feel like halloween everyday.

BlueMagma@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you find motivation when it's not there?6·1 year agoChange your perception of the task, instead of it being a ‘thing that you will be happy to have done’ look at it as a ‘thing that are happy doing’,
for example instead of ‘I will be happy to have learned to play the piano so I should force myself to practice’ think ‘I am happy while practicing the piano’ instead of ‘I have to do the dishes’ think ‘I am cleaning these dishes with perfection, and optimising their placement so that they will dry the quickest’
Basically, don’t do things for the end goal, do it for the action itself, live in the present, not in the future. There’s always enjoyment to get from any chore if you approach it from this mindset.
My partner look at me funny when I put my shirts to dry in ascending color order, and my socks all parrallel, but the truth is, I’m having fun doing it that way, the chore has become a meticulous game that I take pleasure from.
Thanks now I can visualize how that would work, it’s actually pretty cool. And the reasons is good, i can see myself doing tourism in a place like that for this reason.
