Is there anything I can use coupled with a VPN to block device fingerprinting, like software I can use on my phone.
Ill be frank, I am attempting to circumvent Reddit ban evasion. We all know they are some punk ass removed and they ban people for very frivolous reasons.
If anyone has some guidance. I’ve attempted using a VPN, and a browser incognito mode and still I’ve been banned. Been through countless handles with tons of emails from AOL based to gmails to yahoo to Proton emails, still banned. As of now I have been provoked and just want to stick it to them. Because fuck em.
Despite this Reddit has very wide expanding anonymous communities that I grew quite accustomed to. I am not in person social person but I really need a sense of community which is what I used Reddit for. However, a few years ago I said something ridiculous and since then its like I’ve been on a list
Sorry to say but looks like you are investing a ton of resources for a behavior that is not very healthy.
I know it’s tempting to go back but ponder why though.
Lemmy isn’t perfect but maybe we can help do better, be better?
The more you block, the more unique you become, and the more finger printable you are. Every divination from a standard browser is another data point they can use to uniquely identify you. It’s possible to fingerprint someone even with JavaScript disabled. Tor got it right imo by making every instance of Tor look as identical as possible. That’s what we need to do. Idk I’m no expert but that’s what I think.
Reddit links your account to the phone IMEI. The only way to get around it is to get a different phone.
Websites do not have access to your IMEI. That’s only a concern when you use the app.
What OP is describing sounds like they got some sort of hardware blacklisted. Either they are using the app on the same phone, or Reddit has blacklisted the modem MAC.

sure
and they ban people for very frivolous reasons
do they? i’ve said some heinous stuff when i was a dumb angry kid on reddit, but i’ve never had an account banned

i mean this very sincerely and i don’t hope i come across as an asshole, but it sounds like you have a toxic dependency on browsing reddit. there’s much more to life than arguing with people online, go join a sports club or start painting or something that makes you happy instead, you’ll thank yourself for doing so in a few years
I realize you are coming from a helpful place and I appreciate that but the enjoyment I get out of Reddit is my business to be honest.
You may see it as toxic but I find the community of it to be exactly what I prefer. I have AuDHD (which is ADHD with a pinch of high functioning autism) I like to jump from topic to topic. Some things that I need information on, some things that I just obsess about. Feelings to help understand. There was a large community of folks like me that understands how my brain works more so that having to explain it every time so it was a good place to just post and respond and feel apart of something. Actually I wouldn’t have gotten diagnosed without speaking to people on there, getting through the stigmas and fears.
Do I fuck around on there as well, of course I do but it beats being around strangers.
Ps I do paint and have activities I do by myself but I am physically isolated alot (by preference) so Reddit was my outlet.
Lemmy isn’t bad its just not as wide as reaching as Reddit
I got banned from a community. My wife, who has the same IP address as me since we share our internet, caused me to get a 7 day ban on reddit when she posted on that community. So yeah sometimes it isn’t thought through. That doesn’t mean there are total asshats on reddit getting banned though.
There are online SMS/email you can use. Still you can skip the verify step for the email. Letting an account age and gather some karma (with few comments to not trip spam filter) should help.
I’d go topublic WiFi before vpn

Short answer: no. Due to the volume of data transmitted in an ordinary HTTP request, each point in that data set contributes to your uniqueness. You can use fingerprinting test sites to identify them and make yourself less unique.
In reality, there is very little application of this technique. Major companies like Facebook and Google are using it, but if you’re not visiting their sites, it’s unlikely that it’s going to matter. Mike’s Used Appliances is not trying to fingerprint you.
Mike’s Used Appliances is not trying to fingerprint you.
Mike’s Used Appliances might use Google Analytics though.
Go to a library, create an account on the public computer there with whatever email works. Creating accounts on VPNs with non-mainstream email addresses draws suspicion.
So create without VPN on a public computer with whatever email that wouldn’t be connected with previous logins.
Would you say I shouldn’t use the app on my phone anymore even through a VPN or stay on browser?
Just don’t use a VPN when creating an account, since reddit will likely flag the account as a bot/spammer.
You can and should use a VPN normally after you’ve created the account. Might be smart to wait a week or so after making the account to start using it on your personal devices though, just to seem less suspicious. Also, make sure you have MAC address randomization and no stored cookies if using the account on the same devices that you used with your banned account.
Got it, thank you…I will win this war
