In what could possibly be the worst way to start October for emulation enthusiasts, as of just a few minutes ago the Ryujinx repository appears to be down, with the usual "404" message being given when trying to enter any of their related GitHub pages. Not even the main Ryujinx developer account...
It’s my understanding that the creator took a payout.
AFAIK the only statement so far is “agreement” and that that can also mean a legally binding document to take down Ryujinx and never again develop Nintendo emulators or get sued to the moon and back, ie. “sign here or financial ruin”.
Well it was my understanding it was a payout because the creator was from Brazil and Nintendo wouldn’t be able to go after him for like DMCA type route.
Or something. I don’t exactly have my finger right on the pulse, I’m just repeating what I’ve read elsewhere.
I mean, not really. There are definitely countries that don’t care about IP very much, even if they have laws on the book. This is why some piracy sites survive for years and years and years.

Old school suing about “aiding and abetting” piracy until the defendant has no money left to pay lawyers works pretty much all over the world.
