      Ugh that will probably never leave you. I haven’t seen CSAM since I stumbled on it in the 1990s but what I saw is still burnt into my brain. What has been seen cannot be unseen.

      This is one of the reasons I stay on kbin, it doesn’t autoload images.

        Yeah it was pretty wild… At first I assumed it was some AI generated shit. It hit me a minute later that it was actually probably real.

          I’m quite glad I missed that whole thing. I only saw the updates and was logging on after the servers had crashed or the admins were basically bricking the system. I basically couldn’t load lemmy for a few days, so I spent those days…I’m not sure. Probably staring blankly at the wall in front of me. Better than CSAM.

      Similarly, I was on a sort of diary forum and someone decided to share their very graphic life story with no warning whatsoever.

      I mean I get why they shared it but it was so horrifying to know that a child went through that. I mean I know there’s always the possibility it was a fake post but given what I know about confirmed cases (including someone I know personally), I believe it.
