Appreciation Post:

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you that have subscribed to PS5 and are enjoying it enough to follow us over to the new location. Despite “losing” half of our subscribers, the engagement in the comments and in the vote counts has remained unchanged from before the migration to after. We are also growing steadily on the new instance as people continue to migrate and as we benefit from the increased visibility from those who sort by Local on lemmy.world.

All of this means that you all here today are the core and heart of this community. So thank you! From the bottom of my heart. Thank you! You’re votes, your comments, your discussions, and your posts are what make c/PS5 great. I could post every piece of news in the world, and it would be for nothing without your participation.

And if you aren’t currently participating, I encourage you to vote, comment, and post! I promise that it is much more fun than just lurking!

Moving Forward from Here:

So I’ll be going on vacation tomorrow for 4 days and then for a few weeks starting on August 25th, and since I’m the most prolific poster currently (I did make the community after all), that means a drastic reduction in posts here during that time. At least from me…

It has occurred to me, that many of you may want to post, but don’t know where to check or how to get gaming news. You may even follow c/PS5 for this exact purpose, which is fantastic! For those of you wishing to participate more, but without the resources to do so, I am here to facilitate the transfer of knowledge. Let’s see how the sausage gets made:

Follow these sources via the links below or add their feeds to an RSS app, or find your own sources. Here is a short list of sources that I like:

If you want to make things easier on yourself you can download an RSS app or use an RSS website (I like the Feedly free version because it has an App and a Website) and you can subscribe to those sources. If you’re on mobile, you can browse the posts in the app, click share, select Jerboa (or another app that supports shares), and then 99% of the time it’ll auto grab the title for you (if you use Jerboa). Just click to auto insert the title, pick the PS5 community, and submit!

And if you’re a blastphemer like me, you can use Feedly to log into your reddit account and follow the following subreddits, which you can then filter further to only see the Best or Top posts:

  • r/PS5
  • r/PSVR
  • r/Gamingnews

Hey, don’t hate. I do it so you don’t have to. At least I don’t use the official reddit app, ok. Please don’t judge. Most of the news I post comes directly from the sources above anyway, and not from reddit.

Anyway, I’m going to pin this post for awhile while on vacation and to spread awareness. If you follow all those links you’ll notice that a lot of them post the same news, so if even just a few of you check one or two a day and post an article every so often, we can really grow this community into something special.

Or just sit tight for me to come back and I’ll pick up where I left off. I just didnt want to leave you all high and dry while I’m away.

Thanks again for everything!

-Cosmic

Please don’t judge. It’s just funny from my perspective. I use some other gaming websites on feedly, but i’m not here for new, i get them myself, i’m here to talk.

Right! The news here is in service of discussion. That’s why I disabled the RSS bot I had early on. It was stifling discussion. I would much rather a wider variety of people post links or topics they want to discuss. As it stands now, I mostly have to guess what I think people want to see and discuss. Which is fine, but it’ll be better and healthier for the community if others start doing it more regularly.

Have a nice vacation! And thanks for the links since I have been improving my RSS feed 😂

I am subscribed to PS5 community even when I don’t have one yet, I still have a huge PS4 backlog and sadly I think there is no Lemmy community for that one yet, but I appreciate all gaming communities!

    Thanks for your work.

It’s true that almost all the posts are coming from you and that more from everyone would be nice.

Sadly I don’t have enough time to get involved but thanks to those who are.

    Have a nice vacation.
