I want to add that it’s not just kids. I have seen it from people in their mid to late 20’s and 30’s too. Apple + iMessage is the default for many people. Maybe not the kind of people using the fediverse but it’s very common in the real world US.
Yes but sometimes an employer’s idea of efficiency and the real world do not line up. They won’t tell employees to disregard safety protocols or urinate in bottles explicitly. It becomes the only way for the employee to meet their quota and keep their job.

I’m a Floridian and have never heard of his birthday being observed or mentioned. In contrast I actually get Juneteenth off.
