Retiring at the top. Kinda interesting whether the new CEO (after the interim) will be from Japan or they will keep Western presence

He hasn’t made many good decisions recently. I’m assuming it’s him I should blame for the recent ridiculous PS+ price increase.

I don’t like many of his decisions, but one thing I do agree with him on is that publishers don’t like gamepass. Being subbed to both gamepass and ps+, I’ve found that games leave gamepass quicker and the quality of third party games on gamepass is questionable. PS+ usually has better quality games and they stick around longer than gamepass.

Big studios don’t like Gamepass. Indie devs seem to love it. The fact the Ryan made a generalized statement that only includes one side of the gaming industry, shows what he thinks about someone that doesn’t work for a financial group.

Indies like gamepass for the same reason they like epic games exclusivity, short term profits for short term sustainability. They get a fat paycheck to put their game on gamepass and then blow through that money on maintenance and development of new games, then they have to chase the gamepass deal over and over again.

It’s the same situation with EGS, they get the exclusivity paycheck, which means they can stay in business for 6 more months (not a real number just an example) but if they don’t budget that money accordingly and can’t sustain profits on the EGS, then they’ve already lost and have to rely on that short term profit again and again.
