There is so much wasted space on my screen here, would love to add a few rows to I don’t have to scroll through pages to find the app I’m looking for.

Thanks!

This extension was what I used to use when I ran Gnome but I don’t know if it still works. If it doesn’t, try downloading the extension from GitHub and edit metadata.json to include your shell version number and manually install the extension from your downloaded and edited copy.

The grid used to be editable via modding a .so file with a hex editor and I’d be surprised if they’d changed how that works.

    Good luck!

This extension doesn’t work on the latest GNOME version. Even with editing the metadata. It just crashes… There is an issue on the Github but the project seems a bit dead sadly.

That really sucks. Unless they added something into GNOME Tweaks, I don’t really have any other suggestions.

The constant extension breakages are what pushed me away from GNOME and towards KDE (even though I had been using and loving GNOME for close to two decades and was actually a fan of the 3.x changes). I found myself maintaining a bunch of forked extensions just to keep my desktop usable.

I appreciate that they’re aiming for a consistent, out-of-the-box experience but that experience has drifted too far from what I need for productivity these days.
